Artist Biography
Lorry’s artworks explore his own personal history, his experiences with depression and the physical impact this had on his body. His expressive paintings employ storytelling to open up a dialogue with his audience around the realities of his past, exposing the physical side effects of anti-depresents such as weight gain. His work is honest and uncompromising in the way it both reveals his own history and tackles larger issues in society.
Lorry is an artist currently living in Hong Kong. He is studying at Birmingham City University, BA (Hons) Fine Art, following on from his Higher Diploma in Visual Arts and Culture at HKDI. He has previously exhibited his artwork "Try your best and do it better" at Hong Kong restaurant Congteakafe where he was invited to paint a mural directly onto the walls of the resturant. He used this artwork to focus on Hong Kong politics, exploring the legacy of the Umbrella Movement.
